Attendees:
President, Stephen Phillips called the meeting to order on the above date and time then proceeded to follow the order of business.
Secretary, Palmira Miller read the minutes from the previous meeting held August 8, 2006. Heidi moved that the minutes be approved as read and placed on file. Joan seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.
Treasurer, Steve Masakowski read and presented the treasurers report. · The organization has a total of $2,927.99 in the FNCB General Fund, $500.00 in the Fall Festival Reserve, and $89.00 petty cash. · A total of $158.00 was well spent on the Summer Fun Project. Carolyn made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and placed on file. Mary Margaret seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.
Bills and Communications Steven M. reports: · A total of $75.00 was spent for the three (3) Mascots at the Summer Fun Event. · A $100.00 donation will be given to the Newport Township Fire Department on September 9th.
The 1st Vice President, Russ Sager reported: · Still no word on our 501c3 application. Carolyn was unable to contact the Attorney.
The 2nd Vice President, Tom Kashatus reported and members discussed the following: · The Tax Relief bill signed by Governor Rendell. The meaning of tax reform versus tax relief. Tom encourages residents to get involved and write to our representatives. · How good the organizations membership is and how it has grown. · At the last Commissioners meeting one of the Commissioners said they feel abused by the NTCO. Tom does not feel that way and advised everyone to attend not only the Commissioners monthly meetings but also the work sessions.
No Publicity Report:
Committee Reports: · License plate frames, Heidi reports: o The Variety Stop sold all 20 frames and the stock will be replenished. · Recreation, Murph Fletcher reports: o The Summer Fun Events have come to an end. Forty-five (45) children registered with a total attendance of eighty two (82) children for the five (5) events held. o An English Tea Party for girls was discussed. o Plans for next year were discussed suggesting handing out registration forms before schools lets out for the summer and charging a $5.00 registration fee. · Fall Festival, Carolyn Phillips reports: o Plans are moving along. o Tom and Frances will host a chili event o A flea market will replace the craft fair o Invitation letters were given to the Fire, Police, and Ambulance. o Tarnownski’s Pizza was contacted twice to be a vendor with no response to date.
There was no Trustees report.
Unfinished Business · Murph thanked all the volunteers who took part of the Summer Fun Events. · Stephen P. thanked Murph and Mary Margaret on behalf of the organization.
New Business · Russ is receiving phone calls asking if we are still writing letters to property owners who have high grass and weeds as we did a few years ago. Members discussed how the letters went unanswered by the Township Manager and that the same properties are still an issue. Has Mr. Zika been out of the office checking on properties and what action has he taken? Stephen P. stated to be at September’s meeting to voice your concerns. The key to revitalization is a good strong Code Enforcement Office. · There are eleven (11) members on the Planning Committee. Stephen P. will attend the next meeting.
Good of the Organization
Due to Labor Day Holiday, the next Commissioners Meeting will be held Tuesday, September 5th at 6:00 pm. Members are encouraged to attend.
Our next meeting is September 12, 2006, at 6:30PM, Knights of Columbus, Glen Lyon.
Carol made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Joe seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.
