President Stephen Phillips, called the meeting to order on the above date and time.  He then proceeded to follow the order of business.

 

Secretary, Palmira Miller read the minutes from the previous meeting held November 13, 2007.  Stephen P. corrected an error under Unfinished Business #4; Alden Creek will be changed to “Trout Run”.  Carol moved that the minutes be approved as amended and placed on file.  Sia seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

Treasurer, Steve Masakowski read and presented the treasurers report.

·   The organization has a total of $5,902.51 in the General Fund, $100 petty cash, and prepaid dues $75.

·   To date, the Organization is $976.93 in the black.

·   In 2007 the organization had 99 paid and complimentary memberships.

·   Renewal 2008 memberships cards will be available at out January meeting, dues are being accepted.

·   Joan Beeunus won the $100 lottery.

·   $75 received from the Times Leader.

·   Tom and Frances donated $100 from recyclables.

·   $40 from calendar sales, 20 are still for sale.

Tom made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and placed on file.  Joan seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

Bills or correspondence:

Stephen P. sent PNC Bank in Mocanaqua a formal request to the donate $375 a year to our organization.

 

No 1st Vice President report.

 

The 2nd Vice President, Tom Kashatus reports:

1.  The Commissioners worksession in December was cancelled.

2.  Commissioner Zyla stated in the Citizens Voice, he supports regionalization of our Police force.

3.  The South Valley Chamber of Commerce had a deadline date to remove the skate board park equipment by October 20th or the storage company takes ownership.  Randy Rushton offered the skate board park to us at our August 28th meeting stating we need township approval by the Commissioners to accept it.  Murph Fletcher asked for this approval at the September Commissioners meeting.  Commissioner Wilkes cut him off stating it is taken care of and he’s been working on it for 2 months.  Members discussed the loss of the skate board park equipment, how the Commissioners should be held accountable, and the newly formed Recreation Board with meetings held the 3rd Monday of each month, 6:30 at the Municipal building in Wanamie.

4.  Members discussed our Newsletter to provide more Township news, the Township manager position, code enforcement, and how important it is to attend not only the commissioners meetings and worksessions but also meetings such as the sewer authority, recreation, municipal authority, and crime watch meetings.

 

Publicity Chairman, John Jarecki reports:

1.  Meeting announcements were sent to both newspapers and seen in the Citizens Voice.

2.  The Winter Newsletter goes to the printer on Thursday.  Monday Tom will oversee the distribution.

3.  Members discussed ways to improve the newsletter and filled out a questionnaire.

 

Committee Reports:

·   Bill reported on the Glen Lyon Bank Building.  (report attached)  The dialogue will be kept open and look into a plan for finances.

·   Members discussed a fund raiser for next year.  A phone call from Santa charging $5 per call.

Everyone enjoy the holidays.  Our next meeting will be held the 2nd Tuesday in January.

Frances made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Mary Margaret, all voted in favor.
