President, Stephen Phillips called the meeting to order on the above date and time then proceeded to follow the order of business.

 

Secretary, Palmira Miller read the minutes from the previous meeting held February 14, 2006.  Faye moved that the minutes be approved as presented and placed on file.  Tony seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

Treasurer, Steve Masakowski read and presented the treasurers report.

·         The organization has a total of $3,979.37 in the FNCB Checking Account, $68.68 in the Printing Reserve and $100.00 petty cash.

·         The organization has fifty (50) active members or, twenty-nine (29) more than the same period last year.  Two (2) members passed away.

John made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and placed on file.  Mary Jo seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

No Bills or Communications to report.

 

The 1st Vice President, Russ Sager reported:

·         501c3 status is 98% complete.

o        Stephen P thanked Russ for his accomplishment.

·         A motion is needed to approve the amended Bi-laws.

o        Mary Margaret made a motion to formerly accept the bi-laws as amended.  Steph seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

The 2nd Vice President, Tom Kashatus reported:

·         The following three (3) owners signed off for the demolition program.

o        63 E Enterprise St., Glen Lyon

o        10 W Kirmar Ave., Alden

o        65-67 Ridge St., Glen Lyon

·         On Code Enforcement.

o        I’m still receiving calls about problems.

o        Tires and mattresses were dumped on Arch St.  Police were called.

·         The following was discussed

o        Mr. Smocharski discussed zoning in the township.

o        UDAG Funds, if they are being spent for community development?

 

Publicity Chairman, John Jarecki reports:

1.       Meeting announcements were published in the Times Leader and the Citizens Voice.  The Christmas photo was published in the Citizens Voice.

2.       On the Spring Newsletter

o        There are eight (8) pages and still not enough room.

o        Sixteen (16) ads instead of twelve (12).  Personal ads will be accepted.

o        The deadline for ads is March 7th at a cost of $25.00.

o        Printing will be March 15th and distribution the 20th.

o        Hrobacks phone # was incorrect in the last newsletter ad.  The correct # is 735-2004 and the ad will run again at no charge.

 

·         Tom made a motion to place a complimentary ad for The Dollar Store.  Mary Jo seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

·         Steve M. made a motion to print a complimentary ad in the newsletter to anyone donating $25.00 or more.  There was a question on the motion.  Steve M. then amended the motion to anyone donating $250.00 or more will receive a complimentary ad.  Anyone donating $25.00 to $250.00 will be acknowledged in the Winter Newsletter Edition.  Mary Margaret seconded the motion as amended, all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

Committee Report:

·         Heidi reported on selling license plate covers.  The Food Mart, Sheatown, is willing to sell them along with The Variety Shop and The Dollar Store.  Heidi will ask Gray Line for samples, red frame with black lettering and black frame with red lettering.  They will be presented at the next meeting.  John F made a motion to accept the phrase, five (5) towns one (1) heart, to be written as Roman Numeral 5,“V towns I ♥”.  Carolyn seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.  The frames will sell for $3.00 each.  It will take seven (7) working days for delivery.

 

Trustees, no report:

 

Unfinished Business

·         Recreational Committee

o        Stephen P. asked for the committee member names to be presented to the Commissioners.

 

Old Business

·         For Arbor Day members will plant trees on the Mountain Bike Hiking Trail, off Kirmar Avenue.  Earth Conservancy will supply the trees.

·         Tom made a motion for the Community Organization to become a member of the National Arbor Foundation.  Carolyn seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

New Business

·         Al Rende’s Fathers Group would like to achieve tasks and develop a process on projects.  He would like to see children involvement in community services.

o        Tom commended Al’s help.  Also we need to check with the insurance company about liability.

·         Frank Vandermark would like to see more drug task force involvement.

·         The Great American Cleanup was discussed:

o        Palmira reviewed last year’s 2005 wrap-up report.

o        Saturday, April 22nd is the designated pickup date from Lee to Sheatown.  Peter Wanchisen has taken charge of Ridgeview.

o        Dumpsters will be requested along with permission from the Commissioners to place them in the Township Yard.

o        Free landfill space is available from April 22nd thru the 28th.  We will ask Commissioners to hold a Big Junk Drop off for the township.

·         Tom would like to see an article written about Luke Malischak, Honor Student, in the Newsletter.

·         Frank V. attended a grant writing class.  Once we receive our 501c3 status, he will get us help.

 

Our next scheduled meeting is March 14, 2006 at 6:30 PM, Knights of Columbus in Glen Lyon.  Faye made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Tony seconded the motion with all members voting in the affirmative.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 8:10pm.
