Murph made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and placed on file.  Bill seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

Bills, Carolyn reports:

·          $80.00 was paid to the Newport Township Little League for a Community Organization sign that has been placed at the Little League field.

·          At the last Commissioner’s meeting it was revealed that 11 municipalities are interested in having the new county prison – at this time, Hazle Twp. may be leading the race.

·          With regard to the house fire on Miner Ave. Carol is pursuing the matter or nothing would be done.  The fire chief made his report the day after.  Tom urged Carol not to let the issue drop.  (Stephen reiterated the need for a full time Code Enforcement Officer aside from the Business Manager.)

·          With regard to the taser situation, the police department received $200 from the Community Organization, $300 from their car wash, and $500 from the Nanticoke Rotary.

·          At the last Commissioners’ meeting Palmira asked for a list of Code violations.  Tom will ask for copies of the letters of code violations at the next Commissioners’ meeting – not at a work session because he wants comments recorded in the minutes at a regular meeting.

·          If it appears issues will drag on, Tom encourages people to file formal complaints.  (Carol had a copy of the procedure for filing formal complaints with the State.)  Tom urged Carol to file a formal complaint with the State in regards to the Miner Ave. fire property.

·          Tom and Russ learned in order to drop off items at the Recycling Center, approval has to be given by Richard Zika.

·          Heidi commented about the great amount of shooting at the Newport Twp. Cemetery – Stephen Phillips stated “You cannot hunt within 150 yards of a Cemetery.

Publicity Chairman, John Jarecki reports:

1.        Meeting announcement was sent to both papers – it appeared only in the Times Leader.

2.        The Sumer Newsletter will go to the printer on June 15th and be ready for distribution on June 18th.
