President, Stephen Phillips, called the meeting to order on the above date and time.  He then proceeded to follow the order of business.

 

Secretary, Palmira Miller read the minutes from the previous meeting held May 13, 2008.  Heidi moved that the minutes be approved as read and placed on file.  Carol seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

Treasurer, Steve Masakowski read and presented the treasurers report.

1.        The organization has a total of $7,779.08 in the FNCB checking and cash accounts.

2.        To date, the Organization generated income of $3,913.23 expenses totaled $2,625.65.  Income exceeds total by $1,287.58.

Stephanie made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read and placed on file.  Mary Margaret seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

No Bills or Correspondence

 

No 1st Vice Presidents Report

 

2nd Vice President, Tom Kashatus Reports:

1.        The organization has 110 members.

2.        Help is needed for the electronic recycling event on Saturday, June 21st.

3.        July 14th, Bob Hughes is conducting a cleanup event behind the ice caves.  Help is needed.

4.        May 31st, the rec board is conducting a cleanup/fixup event at the Wanamie Rec Park.

·    Volunteers are needed.  We will plan to clean up in front of the park along East Main Street and around Ed Romanoski’s memorial tree, adding the stone for the plaque. 

 

Publicity Chairman, Bill Hourigan reports:

1.        The Summer Newsletter should be out June 21st.  Still waiting for a price from the printer.

 

Committee Reports:

Recreation Chairman, Murph reports the summer fun program is ready to go.

Fall Festival Chairperson, Carolyn scheduled the next committee meeting for June 10th.

Heidi reports on fundraisers,

1)       The wood miniatures will be mailed Friday for the first proof.

2)       The DVD should be proofed by June 1st.

3)       The calendars will be ready to print by next week.

May 22nd Carol presented our proposal to Father for the Corpus Christi Church Bazaar.

Father feels no other organization should sell items, but will gladly accept any donation.

Sia made a motion for our organization to donate a $50 lottery board to the Corpus Christi Bazaar, seconded by Tom, all voted in favor.

Palmira reports on adopt a highway.  Cleanup dates will be the 3rd Saturday in April, July, and October.  We will play it by ear for January or December.  More hands and members need to participate.

 

Trustee Report

Steve M. encouraged the attending trustees to review the organization’s financial records.

Bob Connors had no report but added, as a trustee for an ATV Riding Club, he recently attended a seminar where DCNR spoke of looking for a location on the East Coast of Pennsylvania to build an ATV Park.  DCNR stated that the community leaders in Luzerne County are too difficult to work with and won’t be coming here.

Good of the Order

1.        Luzerne Foundation has Community Grants available.  One being from the Roke Family for children activities.

 

Monday June 2nd, 6pm is the next Commissioners meeting.  Our next meeting is June 10th.

Joan made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Mary Ann, all voted in favor.
