Attendees:
In the absents of President Stephen Phillips, 1st Vice President, Russ Sager, called the meeting to order on the above date and time, then proceeded to follow the order of business.
Secretary, Palmira Miller read the minutes from the previous meeting held September 11, 2007. Heidi moved that the minutes be approved as read and placed on file. Bill seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.
Treasurer, Steve Masakowski read and presented the treasurers report. · The organization has a total of $5,030.50 in the General Fund, $100.00 petty cash, and $379.00 un-deposited receipts. Income exceeds expenses by $121.92. · The organization has 99 paid and complimentary 2007 memberships. Linda H. made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and placed on file. Joan seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.
Bills or Communications, Steve M reports: · Due to the lack of toys given by our members at the Fall Festival, the Officers agreed to donate $100 from the organization to the Marines for Toys for Tots. · Attached is a detailed report of bills paid.
The 2nd Vice President, Tom Kashatus reports: 1. At the Fall Festival, Attorney Chris Kule was presented with a plaque and a life time membership in appreciation for his free legal services to this organization. 2. I was well received at the Business Associates Meeting held in Schickshinny. The Historical Society discussed how they received funding and grants. Members discussed the bank building in Glen Lyon. Bill will speak to someone at Omega Bank. 3. Carol will contact the township manager to have a dead deer removed from the main road in Wanamie. 4. Tom asked and members discussed recycling cans in order to bring in funds.
Publicity Chairman, John Jarecki reports: 1. Meeting announcement was seen earlier in the week in the Times Leader. 2. For the Fall Newsletter: o 14 ads were sold at a cost of $350. Total cost for printing was $491 including inserts. 90 extra copies were printed. Mrs. Burke distributed Newsletters in Ridgeview. o Volunteers are needed for the Newsletter. John passed around a list of jobs. Members were asked to pick the jobs they would like to do. This will be reviewed at the next meeting.
Committee Reports: · Murph reported that recreation is at rest. What do we think about hosting a dance at the American Legion Hall asking the Nameless Band to play? He will speak to Mike Figmic about the hall. · Carolyn thanked all for helping with the Fall Festival. We all worked hard to make it a great success. · Palmira will attend the (Clean up our Anthracite Lands and Streams) COALS Summit, scheduled October 23rd in Harrisburg. Carolyn made a motion to pay travel expenses to and from Harrisburg, seconded by Steve M. all voted in favor. · Steve Masakowski has tickets to sell. · Heidi sold five (5) calendars at the Festival.
No Trustee Report No Unfinished Business New Business: · Fay’s Mom passed away.
Good of the Order: Commissioner’s work-session is October 17th.
Carol made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Linda, all voted in favor. Meeting adjourned at 8:17 pm.
