President, Stephen Phillips called the meeting to order on the above date and time, then proceeded to follow the order of business.

 

Secretary, Palmira Miller read the minutes from the previous meeting held September 9, 2008.  Carolyn moved that the minutes be approved as read and placed on file, seconded by Joanie, all voted in favor.

 

Treasurer, Steve Masakowski reports:

1.     To date the organization has a total of $7,803.84 in the FNCB checking and cash accounts.

2.     The income generated from the recycling program this year was $1,415 from metal and $318 from cans.

3.     To date, the Organization generated income of $7,308.89 expenses totaled $6,046.64.  Income exceeds expenses by $1,262.34.

Carolyn made a motion to accept the treasurer’s reports as read and placed on file, seconded by Murph, all voted in favor.

 

1st Vice President, Russ Sager reports:

1.     The Memorial Plaque for our deceased members can be hung here in the Knights of Columbus Hall.

 

2nd Vice President, Tom Kashatus reports:

1.     Tom welcomed and introduced new member Frank Flynn.

2.     October 18, Hanover Area High School will hold a tire recycling drop off event.

3.     Tom will email members on merchandise for sale.

 

Publicist, Bill Hourigan, reports:

1.     The Fall Newsletter will be published at the end of the month.

2.     Fall Festival Press release will be sent out.

 

Fall Festival Chairperson, Carolyn reports:

1.     Event details were discussed, the Newsletter insert was reviewed and final meeting set.

 

Recreation, Murph reports:

1.     A Summer Fun Program brochure was printed and distributed to donors.

2.     Members discussed the call from Santa program to take place between December 18th and the 21st.  Advertisement and volunteers are needed.

Bill made a motion to charge $5 per call to child or family, seconded by Carolyn, all voted in favor.

 

Fundraising, Heidi reports:

1.     The 2nd order for sixty (60) wooden plaques was placed and should arrive for the fall festival.  Reorder takes 2 ½ weeks.

2.     Thirty-four (34) of the 100 calendars are left.  We will delay an order until after the fall festival.  Reorder takes one week.

3.     The DVD is still in development.

 

The Great American Cleanup, Coordinator, Palmira reports:

1.     Members discussed projects for next year. 

a)    Deb Prokap presented a beautification project to plant a butterfly garden at the Glen Lyon playground.  She will present it at the next Commissioners meeting.

2.     Adopt-a-Highway cleanup in October.  One group will go from Center St., Wanamie to the Parkway, the second group from Wanamie to Glen Lyon.

 

No Trustees Report

Unfinished Business

1.     On John’s issue on communication with the Commissioners.

a)    At the next Commissioners meeting Stephen P. will offer our assistants to the plans they have for the Township.

 

Good of the Order

1.     Murph discussed with members projects to generate interest and recognize the Township Veterans for Veterans Day.

a.     Host a meal, have a parade, publish an ad.  Murph will research further to discuss at our next meeting.

 

Mary Margaret made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Heidi, all voted in favor.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.
