President, Stephen Phillips called the meeting to order on the above date and time wishing all members a Happy New Year and a special welcome back to Tom Kashatus.

 

Secretary, Palmira Miller read the minutes from the previous meeting held December 12, 2006.  Heidi moved that the minutes be approved as read and placed on file.  Joan seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

Treasurer, Steve Masakowski read and presented the treasurers report.

Murph made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and placed on file.  Russ seconded the motion with all members present voting in the affirmative.

 

Bills and Communications Steven M. reports:

·         No one claimed October 31st winning ticket #384.

·         $225.00 will be paid out for the Christmas decoration contest.  Winners will be announced next meeting.

 

The 1st Vice President, Russ Sager reports:

·         Still waiting on our 501c3 status.

 

The 2nd Vice President, Tom Kashatus reports:

·         It is good to be back among friends.  Tom thanked everyone for their cards and support.

·         Dan Kowalski was to attend tonight’s meeting to discuss plans of an Ethanol Plant in the Valley.  Jerry Hudak from the South Valley Chamber of Commerce approached the Plant which can bring in 150 jobs.  Members discussed the advantages and disadvantages.

 

Publicity Chairman, John Jarecki reports:

1.        Meeting announcements for this meeting were sent to the Times Leader and the Citizens' Voice.

2.        The Winter Newsletter was printed and distributed on schedule.

o        Two free ads were published for Hilltop Music and CVS for their help with our summer children's activities.

o        Twelve (12) ads were sold for a total of $300.00.

o        Printing costs for the newsletter were about $315.00.

John congratulated the newsletter staff for successfully getting the newsletter out.  He said that we need comments on the newsletter, both positive and negative.  The consensus of the group was that the newsletter was ok but we should print and distribute a monthly report of the Township Commissioners' meeting.

 

Committee Reports:

·         Murph discussed ideas for the upcoming summer program.  But, no action taken on anything.

 

No Trustees report.

 

Old Business

·         A motion was made and passed to purchase 250 license plate frames.

 

New Business

·         Teena talked about a county zoning meeting she attended regarding a neighbor that turned a double block home into a three unit rental.  Questioned code compliance, number of garbage stickers and sewer billings issued to the residence.  The county zoning committee approved the conversion.  People are pursuing legal options to reverse the approval.

·         John Jarecki recommended potential candidates for the upcoming commissioner's election be developed. Individuals interested in developing a list will meet after the meeting.

 

Our next meeting is January 23, 2007, at 6:30PM, Knights of Columbus, Glen Lyon.

 

Teena made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by John, all voted in favor.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
